How to choose the thickness of the comforters?

Each person's "love" for heat is very different, so if you find that the surrounding people are feeling cold, but you are still not - it should be assessed when choosing the thickness of the duvets. If you sweat a lot (wet body hardly raises the cold) it is worth remembering that wool absorbs a lot of moisture, without causing a sensation of moisture. It is important to listen to your needs and take into account the temperature in the bedroom.

"Labos nakties" comforters‘ warmth depends on the quantity of used wool per square meter (GSM):

  • For summer wool comforters we use ~ 225 GSM (6.64 oz/yd²). If temperature in a bedroom is about 24°C (75°F) or more, or a person likes cool comfort these are suitable not only in summertime.
  • For all seasons comforters we use ~ 450 GSM (13.27 oz/yd²) of wool. It is suitable for all seasons when the bedroom temperature at night is 20-22°C (68-72°F).
  • If you sleep in a room where it is 18°C (64°F) or less, choose extra warm winter comforter that uses ~ 600 GSM (17.70 oz/yd²) of wool.

What is so special about naturally processed wool and how is it different from industrially prepared one?

Who has seen how sheep naturally live, probably understands that you can't train sheep to stay clean as a poodle and sheep do not wash like kittens. Industry processes wool in huge quantities and uses technological advances for that. They wash wool with harsh and efficient detergents. Here machines as human hands work which can't have a contact with these agents. At the end of the process wool is being rinsed with an additional amount of lanolin that was lost during the washing. After all wool is handed for people to use. But the way it passes damages the wool fiber and loses the major part of the unique features. So the label published loudly "natural wool" does not mean that it is treated naturally.

While washing wool with your own hands you can't even use any chemicals! In this way we save natural lanolin, fatty substance which helps to preserve wool's softness and waviness. Naturally treated wool is hypoallergenic, dust and dirt resistant.

What are the care advices for "Labos nakties" bedding?

With proper care, wool duvets can last for decades. Wool duvets do not like to be machine-washed. Washing in hot water and spinning will cause shrinkage and you will not be able to re-stretch it.

However, if there is a necessity you can hand-wash it in lukewarm water with natural soap without rubbing. After rinsing gently press and lay horizontally in a warm environment. Naturally processed wool should be handled with care.

Dry cleaning is the way to clean a wool comforter too. In between the dry cleaning, a good shake in the open air is adequate. Also, ventilate if a natural wool smell seems too strong.

What are the standard bedding sizes?

They are diverse, depending on the country and habits of people. The most commonly used comforters in Europe are 200 cm (79") long. Single width - 140 cm (55"), double - 200 (79") and 220 cm (86").

We offer USA sizes also. Twin (68"x86"), Queen (90"x90") and King (90"x102") are available.

We accept custom orders to fulfill your needs.

Is woolen bedding suitable for allergy sufferers?

Most people who think they're allergic to wool, in fact respond to the products remaining after the "commercial" wool processing. Harsh detergents, sulfuric acid, chlorine, fire repellents, insecticides and other aggressive chemicals are used in industrial wool preparation.

Chemically treated wool gains the peculiarities needed for commerce (becomes machine washable, non-shrinking, etc), but can cause allergic reactions for susceptible people.
However, although wool allergy is rare most people avoid wool because of the allergy to dust mites. For a long time the wool was not recommended for people with allergies, but now more and more state that wool is naturally hypoallergenic.

Dust mites multiply under certain conditions. They require moisture to survive, they cannot survive in extreme cold or heat. Meanwhile wool can absorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture and remain dry! It creates a dry microclimate and dust mites do not feed on wool. So natural, chemically intact wool is not suitable for dust mites to breed. Natural lanolin acts as a repellent for dust mites also.

What are linen fabric properties?

In many countries linen is considered as the highest quality fabric. Depending on the weather and temperature, linen can retain water or repel it without feeling damp. This is why linen insulates in the winter and cools down in the summer creating pleasant microclimate. Linen bed sheeting is extremely durable and lasts decades when cared for correctly. What is more, linen is one of the most ecologic fabrics. According to scientific researches, linen does not cause allergies and eliminates many kinds of skins irritations, so it is extremely useful for people with sensitive skin.

How to care for your linen bedding?

Wash linen bedding in washing machine in warm water up to 50°C (120°F). Use a mild detergent without added bleach or whiteners. Do not pour detergent directly on textiles. Avoid overloading the washing machine. Do not use bleach. -The ideal way to dry linens is by air, using a line or draping them over a clotheshorse, railing or rod.  In a dryer, use a medium setting, dry the linen by itself and don't over dry. Linen dries much faster than cotton. Remove the sheets from the dryer while they are still slightly damp. No ironing needed (tendency to wrinkle is considered part of the fabric's charm).
